Dr. Naveed Akhter Shad is a dedicated researcher with a PhD in Materials Science (Physics) from Government College University Faisalabad, Pakistan, earned in 2019. With a decade-long experience in Health Physics Research at Chashma Nuclear Power Plant-1 (CHASNUPP-1) from 2000 to 2010 and subsequent roles at PINUM Cancer Hospital, Faisalabad, and currently as a Research Officer in the Nano Biotechnology group at the National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (NIBGE), Faisalabad, Dr. Shad specializes in the synthesis of novel nanomaterials for multifarious applications, contributing significantly to the fields of materials science and nano biotechnology.

Transitioning to the medical field, he served as a researcher at PINUM Cancer Hospital in Faisalabad from 2010 to 2015. Currently, since 2015, Dr. Shad holds the position of Research Officer in the Nano Biotechnology group, Wheat Biotech Lab, and Insect Molecular Laboratory at the National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (NIBGE) in Faisalabad, Pakistan, showcasing his commitment to advancing research in diverse scientific domains.

Dr. Naveed Akhter Shad is a dedicated researcher currently pursuing a PhD with a thesis titled “Transition Metal Oxide based composite materials for multifarious applications.” In addition, he is actively engaged in MPhil research, focusing on diverse topics such as latent fingerprints development using metallic nanomaterials, the synthesis and characterization of NiO/activated carbon nanostructures for energy applications, surfactant-driven synthesis of strontium sulfide-copper sulfide nanocomposites, and the construction of Bi2WO6/rGO nanocomposite heterostructures for enhanced photocatalytic and EIS properties. Dr. Shad’s research journey showcases his commitment to exploring novel applications of nanomaterials across various scientific domains.

In 2019, he secured the First Prize for the best paper on “Effects of PEG concentration on cobalt ferrite nanoparticles for biomedical applications.” Dr. Shad also received the 2018 First Prize in a poster presentation competition and an award of scholarship for research at the University of California, Los Angeles, in 2019.
