Dr. Silvain completed his first Ph.D. in Materials Science at the University of Poitiers in 1984, with a thesis focused on the crystallographic studies of polycrystalline silicon used in solar cells. He earned a second Ph.D. from the University of Poitiers in 1987, studying the microstructure of soft and hard magnetic materials.
