Dr. Pavol Mikula, born in 1947 in Topoľčany, Slovak Republic, is a distinguished scientist with a prolific career in nuclear physics. He completed his postgraduate studies at the Nuclear Physics Institute, Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, earning his CSc. degree in 1974. Dr. Mikula has been a leading research scientist since 1991 and obtained his DrSc. degree from Charles University in Prague in 1998. With over 300 publications to his credit, including about 30 papers in international journals and numerous conference contributions, his research has significantly contributed to neutron diffraction optics, small-angle neutron scattering, and residual strain measurements. From 1964 to 1969, RNDr. Pavol Mikula pursued his undergraduate education at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University in Prague. Following this, from 1969 to 1974, he dedicated himself to postgraduate study, earning a CSc. degree, which is equivalent to a Ph.D., at the Nuclear Physics Institute, Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. These formative years laid the groundwork for his illustrious career in nuclear physics and diffraction optics.
In 1971, RNDr. Pavol Mikula was honored with the RNDr. degree from Charles University in Prague, marking a significant milestone in his academic journey. His expertise and dedication were further recognized in 1991 when he was appointed as a Leading Research Scientist. Continuing his academic pursuit, he attained the prestigious DrSc. degree from Charles University in Prague in 1998, solidifying his status as a distinguished scholar in the field of nuclear physics. Since 1974, Dr. Mikula has held a permanent position at the Nuclear Physics Institute, Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, where he continues to contribute significantly to research and academic endeavors.
From 1969 to 1978, RNDr. Pavol Mikula focused his efforts on studying neutron beam modulation and reflectivity properties. Transitioning into the late 1970s and early 1980s, he delved into research on multiple diffraction effects. Throughout the 1980s, his work shifted towards neutron Bragg diffraction optics, spanning from 1983 to 1990. In the early 1990s, he furthered the application of neutron Bragg diffraction optics, culminating in innovative advancements. Presently, Dr. Mikula continues to expand upon his research, particularly in the application of neutron Bragg diffraction optics in neutron diffraction instrumentation, showcasing his enduring commitment to advancing the field of nuclear physics.
