Alexandros E. Karantzalis holds a Ph.D. in Advanced Materials from the University of Nottingham, UK, completed in 1997. His doctoral thesis focused on the characterization of aluminum-based metal matrix composites (MMCs) manufactured using a novel stir-casting method. He also earned an M.Sc. in Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Processes from the University of Nottingham in 1994, where he researched microwave reaction bonded silicon nitride for his thesis. Additionally, he holds a degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, obtained in 1993, with a thesis on the surface plating of aluminum coated with copper using a CO2 laser.
