Mgr. Zdeněk Remeš, Ph.D., is a senior scientist at the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, where he has been employed since 1993, and served as an assistant professor at the Czech Technical University in Prague from 2013 to 2022. Born in Czechoslovakia in 1971, he holds a MSc in solid state physics (1994), a BSc in financial mathematics (1998), and a PhD in solid state physics and material research (1999) from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University, Prague. With a H-index of 30, Dr. Remeš has authored 202 published papers with 2321 citations in Scopus. His research focuses on the optical and electrical properties of thin films and nanoparticles, plasma treatment, photovoltaics, and photocatalysis. He has held long-term research positions in Belgium, Israel, France, and the Netherlands. Mgr. Zdeněk Remeš, Ph.D., obtained his MSc in Solid State Physics in 1994, a BSc in Financial Mathematics in 1998, and a PhD in Solid State Physics and Material Research in 1999, all from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University, Prague, Czechia. Additionally, he earned a Certificate in “Teaching General Subject – Mathematics” in 2018 from the same institution.

Since 1993, Mgr. Zdeněk Remeš, Ph.D., has served as a Senior Scientist at the Institute of Physics, Czech Academy of Sciences. From 2013 to 2022, he held the position of Assistant Professor at the Czech Technical University in Prague. Dr. Remeš has undertaken extensive international research engagements, including long-term attachments at the Institute of Materials Research (IMO), Hasselt University, Belgium, during 1999–2002, 2003–2004, and for 10 months in 2022. He also spent 12 months at TECHNION – Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel, in 2002–2003, 6 months at CEA/Saclay, France, in 2006, and 3 months at EWI TU Delft, The Netherlands, in 2013.

María José Tapia De la Jara earned her Marine Biology degree with distinction from Universidad Católica del Norte in Coquimbo, Chile, where she studied from 2018 to 2024. As part of her education, she participated in a student exchange program at Universidad Católica de Valencia San Vicente Martir in Valencia, Spain, during 2023-2024. Her thesis focused on the characterization and analysis of the antibacterial capacity of protein extracts from the mucus of native marine fish Seriolella violacea, Cilus gilberti, and Seriola lalandi.

 🏢Work Experience:

María José Tapia De la Jara has accumulated extensive work experience in various roles. As a Scientific Monitor at Proyecto Asociativo Regional Explora Coquimbo from March 2018 to December 2020, she guided educational tours through the Faculty of Marine Sciences, the Mundo Mar Rescue Center, and the Aquarium and Museum of the University. She continued her role as a Scientific Monitor at Oceanogràfic de Valencia from January 2019 to December 2022, engaging the community with the marine environment and raising awareness through traveling exhibits addressing environmental issues and solutions.
