Dr. Avanka Lowe | Computational Nanotechnology | Best Researcher Award

Avanka Lowe is currently pursuing a Master of Computer and Information Technology (MCIT) online through the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Pennsylvania, starting in August 2023. He completed a Fellowship in Nuclear Medicine and Clinical PET/CT at the Division of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging in the Department of Radiology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine from July 2021 to June 2022. Prior to that, he underwent a Residency in Nuclear Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) in Dallas, Texas, from July 2018 to June 2021. Dr. Lowe also completed a PGY1 Internship in Internal Medicine at Kern Medical in Bakersfield, California, affiliated with the University of California, Los Angeles, from July 2016 to June 2017. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh, where he studied from April 2004 to January 2010.

Avanka Lowe has been serving as an Assistant Professor in Medical Imaging and an Attending Nuclear Medicine Physician at the University of Arizona and Banner University Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona, since October 2022. In this role, he is actively involved in teaching and clinical practice, contributing his expertise in nuclear medicine and medical imaging to the academic and healthcare communities.

Avanka Lowe holds several certifications that enhance his qualifications in the medical field and technology. He was certified by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine (ABNM) in November 2022. In addition, he completed a Certificate in Artificial Intelligence in Health Care from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in March 2021. Dr. Lowe also obtained a Certificate in Data Structure and Algorithms with Python, as well as a Certificate in Web Development Fundamentals, both from NuCamp in 2023. Furthermore, he is certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) in the USA, a certification he received in September 2015. Earlier in his career, he earned a Certificate in Computer Science from the National Institute of Business Management in Sri Lanka (NIBM) in June 2001.
